Clipped oats are often clipped alongside having the husk of the oat broken to allow the digestive enzymes access to the nutrients and aid better digestibility.
The ends of the grain are trimmed to give a neater final product.

Contains the lowest amount of starch but the highest proportion of starch digested in the small intestine. Oats is a ‘safe’ grain to feed because of its high crude fibre content in the outer hull. Oats can be fed with hay and roughage for maintenance, breeding or working horses. Suitable for all other animal species for maintenance, growth, production and breeding in combination with other grains.
